Mrs. John Matus Dies; Longtime West Resident The Rosary for Mrs. John Matus of West was recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mrs. Matus, 86, died Monday in a Hillsboro hospital. Requiem mass was celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Saint Mary's Catholic Church of Assumption in West, with Rev. B. J. Zientek as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Matus was born in Czechoslovakia and moved to the U.S. when she was six, settling with her family near Penelope. She had lived in the West area for the past 50 years. Mr. Matus preceded her in death on Oct. 31, 1966. She is survived by two sons, Edward Matus of Route 2, West, and John Matus of Dallas; three daughters, Mrs. Rosie Filer of Bellmead, Miss Josephine Matus of Lancaster and Mrs. Mary Skopik of Dallas; 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
