Bio
Albina H. Svrcek, 94, of West died June 10 in a West nursing home. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 13 in St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West with the Rev. Walter Matus and the Rev. Ed Karasek as co-celebrants. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She was born July 20, 1908 near Ross and had lived in Penelope for a number of years before moving to West. She married Frank A. Matus Oct. 29, 1929 and he preceded her in death April 19, 1949. She married V.J. Svrcek April 24, 1951 and he preceded her in death Aug. 30, 1977. She was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West, the K.J.Z.T Society 11, Catholic Daughters of American Court 829 and the Altar Rosary Society. She volunteered at West Rest Haven for 16 years. She is survived by her sons Marvin Matus and wife Helen of Dallas and the Rev. Walter Matus of Cyclone; stepsons Willie Svrcek of Waco, Johnny Svrcek of Dallas and Herman Svrcek of Athens; stepdaughter Lillian Mach of Waco; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous step-grand-, step-great-grand- and step-great-great-grandchildren.
