Bio

Mr. Vincent (Jim) Holacka, age 87 of West, died August 25, 1998 in a Waco hospital. Rosary was recited August 26 in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. August 27 in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Walter Matus as co-celebrants. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Holacka was born November 23, 1910 in Ross and moved to Penelope with his parents in 1911. He married Regina Kocian on October 27, 1931 at Penelope and they had lived in West since 1945. He was a retired farmer and worked for General Tire and Rubber Company for 26 years before retiring in 1963. Mr. Holacka was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the K.J.T. Society #31 and the Knights of Columbus Council #2305. He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene Holacka on February 28, 1985. Survivors include his wife, Regina of West; one son, James Holacka and wife Jerryline of Dallas; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Holacka of Fort Worth; one sister, Albina Svrcek of West; two grandchildren, Helen Holacka Olerich and husband Don of Austin, Donald Holacka and wife Mary of Watuga, Texas; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Ernest Bezdek, Dennis Sulak, Gary Beseda, Edmund Sykora, James Kocian and Allen Vanek. Honorary pallbearers were Wilford Gajdosik, Norman Sulak and Steve Vanek.
