Bio

Bertha A. Klish, age 95, of West passed away August 20, 1995, at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. August 21 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. August 22 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with the Rev. Ed Karasek as Celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Klish was born July 21, 1900, in Germany, just across the border from Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Emil and Vincencia Bazant. She came with her parents to the United States in 1909 and settled in West shortly thereafter. She married Edward J. Klish in November of 1921 in West. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1935. She was a farmer and a homemaker. She also worked at the Friendship Café for several years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Assumption. She was also a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She had an insatiable passion for anything that bloomed and enjoyed cooking and canning. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Rose Krizan, who died March 10, 1994 and Leona Pavelka who died December 3, 1991; one great-grandson, Danny Machac, who died May 15, 1994; one sister, Rose Rejcek, who died April 30, 1993, and one granddaughter, Carolyn Pack, who died July 20, 1971. She is survived by one son, Raymond L. Klish of West; one daughter, Ella Macik of West; one brother, Rudolph Bazant of West; two sisters, Mary Grones and Ann Elliott, both of Dallas; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Danny Urbanovsky, James Macik, Paul Pavelka, Johnnie Ray Uptmore, Tim Klish and Edward Klish. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
