Raymond L. Klish, age 72 of West, passed away on May 8, 1999 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. on May 10 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. May 11 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek, as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by V.F.W. Post No. 4819 of West. Mr. Klish was born on March 28, 1927 in Penelope, the son of Edward and Bertha Klish. He lived in the Tours and West Community all of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He married Helen Marak on August 9, 1949 in Abbott. Raymond worked for General Tire & Rubber Co. in Waco for 10 years. He was a representative for the Lone Star Brewing Co. in San Antonio and later managed the local Lone Star distributorship in Waco from 1973 until 1985. He then worked as a salesman with Marstaller Motors and Bird Kultgen Ford in Waco before his retirement in 1992. He had recently worked part-time for Jerrel Bolton Chevrolet in West. Raymond loved gardening and cooking and his greatest enjoyment was his grandchildren. He was a member of K.J.T. Society No. 31, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54, Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305, American Legion No. 478, Catholic Life of San Antonio and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption n West. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by his wife, Helen Klish of West; three sons, Edward Klish and wife, Bernie and Tim Klish, all of West and Michael Klish and wife, Karen of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; three daughters, Sherry Zahirniak and husband, Edward and Kathleen Eubanks and husband, David, all of West, and Kim VanWinkle and husband, Sonny of Ross; one sister, Ella Macik of West; 13 grandchildren, Jason and Hope Klish, Heather and Brian Vrba, Janna Klish, Renee, Amber and Zac Zahirniak, Ashley and Megan VanWinkle, Shane and Kyle Klish, Dylan Klish, Evan and Emeri Eubanks and several other relatives. Pallbearers were Jason Klish, Edward Zahirniak, Richard Vrbas, Johnnie Ray Uptmore, Zachary Zahirniak, David Eubanks, Toby Tobola and Eugene Maroul. Honorary pallbearers were James Macik, Rudy Rizo, George Fidler, Frank Podsednik, Charles Kubacak, Frank Podsednik, Charles Kubacak, Frankie Marak, Danny Urbanovsky, Robert Marak and The Afternoon Coffee Group.
