Cyril M. Hykel, age 71, of Grapeland, Texas, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 1990, at his residence. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, West, with Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Hykel was born July 4, 1919 in West and had lived in Houston for a number of years, where he was employed by M&J Oilfield value manufacturing company. He was a resident of Grapeland for the past eight years, a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bellmead where he married Charlene Hogue, April 7, 1956. He was a decorated veteran of WWII serving in the Army, a member of V.F.W. Post #4819 of West and the American Legion Post #85 of Palestine. Survivors include his wife, Charlene of Grapeland; four sons, Bob Pickett of Marble Falls, Don Pickett of Houston, Richard Hykel of Cypress and James Hykel of Anchorage, Alaska; one daughter, Donna Jarnigan of Houston; three brothers, Johnny Hykel of Everett, Washington, William Hykel of Elm Mott and Tony Hykel of Irving; three sisters, Mrs. Joe (Lillie) Schroeder of West, Mrs. George (Magdalene) Gajdica of Dallas and Mrs. Jimmy (Mary Lou) Clawson of Everett, Washington; five granddaughters and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Joe Schroeder, Jr., Glenn Hykel, Daryl Hykel, Dennis Schroeder, Kenneth Hykel, George Gajdica, Vick Gajdica and William Hykel, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were the members of V.F.W.
