Jimmie Hykel, 64, of West died Sunday at a Fairfield hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Rev. B.J. Zientek officiating. Burial was at St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Msgr. George Doskocil officiating. Mr. Hykel was born Oct. 15, 1917, in McLennan County and lived in Hill County for a number of years. He had lived in West for the past two years. He was a retired farmer and rancher. Mr. Hykel was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 of West, of which he was current grand knight. He was the manager of the West Columbus Club and vice president of the K.J.T. Society No. 107 of Abbott, of which he was a past president. He was an active member and past president of the Hill County Farm Bureau. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Sulak Hykel; his mother, Anastacia Hykel of West; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Pat) Helona of China Spring and Nancy Hykel of San Antonio; four brothers, William Hykel of Elm Mott, Johnny Hykel of Seattle, Wash., Tony Hykel of Irving and Cyril Hykel of Palestine; three sisters, Mrs. Jodie (Lillie) Schroeder of Tours, Mrs. Jim (Mary Lou) Clawson of Everett, Wash., and Mrs. George (Magdeline) Gajdica of Dallas; and three grandchildren. Kotch Funeral Home of West was a charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were Emil Fridel, Frankie Marak, Raymond Klish, Lawrence Schutza, Donald Cernosek, Dickie Blair, Aldon Smith, Eugene Maroul and Kenneth Beene. Honorary Pallbearers were the members of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2305 of West, and K.J.T. Society No. 107 of Abbott.
