Mr. Stanley Joe Helona, age 66, of 512 W. Pecan Street in West passed away Wednesday, June 15, 1988 at West Community Hospital. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, June 17, 1988 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, Monsignor Ray Widacki as celebrant. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Helona was born October 3, 1921 in McLennan County, Texas, the son of Frank and Frances Helona. He married Pauline Marek January 22, 1948 in Abbott. He worked for Cameron Mills in Waco for 22 years, before retiring in July 1987. He was a member of KJT Lodge 107 in Abbott, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4819 in West and St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He served in the Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Pauline Helona of West; three daughters, Barbara Marshall and Kalena Helona, both of West, and Kathy Tipton of Waco; a brother, Willie Helona of Abbott; five sisters, Polly Helona, Mary Mach and Helen Kubacak, all of West, Frances Baker of Duncanville and Georgie Kofnovec of Abbott; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Marshall and two grandsons, Ronny and Tony Hill.
