Henry Grmela, age 54, of Route 1, West, passed away early Thursday morning, July 13, 1989 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by Rev. Ed Karasek. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption with Rev. Earl Hedberg as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Grmela was born November 20, 1934 in Hill County Texas, the son of Rudolph and Rose Grmela. He married Doris Mechell on January 26, 1979 in Waco. He was a heavy equipment operator for McLennan County for 15 years and he was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Survivors include his wife, Doris Grmela of Route 1, West; two sons, Tim Bailey and Jimmy Grmela, both of West; his mother, Rose Grmela of West; two brothers, Rudy Grmela of Elm Mott and Joe Grmela of West; four sisters, Helen Girard, Margaret Sinkule, and Susan Grmela, all of West, and Lois McMillan of McGregor; one grandson, Chad Bailey of West; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Jerome Sinkule, Jerry Girard, David Girared, William E. Karlik, Joe Steinocher, Terry Mechell, Larry Mechell and Mike Watson. Bill Skerik was an honorary pallbearer.
