Bio

Raymond F. Barton, Sr., age 69 of West, passed away January 6, 1999 at his residence. A rosary was recited at 7:45 p.m. January 7 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by Rev. Melvin Dornak. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 2 p.m. January 8 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek, Rev. Melvin Dornak and Deacon Cecil Friend as con-celebrants. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Mr. Barton was born on April 23, 1929 in McLennan County, the son of Frank and Agnes Hutyra Barton. He attended schools in West. He married Henrietta Sulak on February 5, 1951 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. He has been the owner of Ray's Electric and Plumbing since 1950. He also worked as a projectionist for the old West Best Theater. He loved fishing, dancing and playing with his grandchildren. He was a member of K.J.T. No. 31, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 54 and the West Chamber of Commerce. He was also a lifetime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of he Assumption in West. He was preceded in death by a son, Raymond F. Barton Jr., who died on April 19, 1990. He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Barton of West; two sons, Randy Barton, Craig Barton and his wife, Becky, all of West; four daughters, Joanie Barton of Los Angeles, California, Judy Overton and her husband, Tom of Houston; Becky Cartier of Austin; and Jackie Mynarcik and her husband, John of West; one daughter-in-law, Sandy Barton of West; three sisters, Willie Mae Schuetz, Georgie Spruell and Rudy Marak, all of West; 10 grandchildren, Jason, Amy and Shelli Barton, Nathan and Matthew Overton, Whitney and Kaylie Mynar, Ashlee Mynarcik, Alex and Thomas Dean Barton and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Rudolph Matus, Phillip Webre, George (Boogie) Hanzlicek, Jimmy Holcomb, Joe Steinocher, John R. Sulak, Edwin Sulak and Miles (Pee Wee) Adamson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, St. Mary's School Endowment Fund or West Ambulance Building Fund.
