Rudy Marak, 81, of West, passed away Thursday, Sept. 27, 2007, in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Rudy was born near West, Texas, to the late Frank and Agnes (Hutyra) Barton. She attended West schools. On October 10, 1947, she was united in marriage to Raymond Marak in West. Rudy owned and operated Shadowland Café in West for 32 years before retiring in 1990. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of St. Anne's Altar Society and R.V.O.S. Lodge #47. Rudy enjoyed walking, tending to her vegetable garden and rose bushes, and visiting friends in West Rest Haven. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on November 27, 1972; brother, Raymond Barton; and a sister, Willie Mae Schuetz. Survivors include son, Randy Marak and wife, Kelli of, Spring; grandchildren, Ellie Wilson, of San Antonio, John E. Zett, IV, of Spring, Terry Joe Zett and Eric Zett, both of Waunakee, Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Caleb and Hailey; a very dear and close friend, Billy G. Cook, of West; sister, Georgie Spruell, of West; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Waco Tribune-Herald: 9/29/2007...A2
