Bio
Georgia (Barton) Spruell, 85, of West, passed away early Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow in Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, at Aderhold Funeral Home. Georgia was born near West, Texas, to the late Frank and Agnes (Hutyra) Barton. She attended school in West. On February 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Byron Weldon Spruell in West. Georgia was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She loved gardening, playing bingo, and listening to country and Czech music. Georgia worked as a secretary for Ray's Electric and Plumbing in West for several years prior to her retirement. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron, on July 21, 1970; brother, Raymond Barton Sr.; and sisters, Rudy Marak and Willie Mae Schuetz. Survivors include son, Barry Spruell and wife, Cindy, of Flower Mound; daughter, Linda Urban and husband, Joseph, of West; grandchildren, Jackie Riemenschneider, Jessica Urban, Sarah Urban, Lindsay Urban, James Gordy and Shannon; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Braden; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
