Asa Kemp was a tall, thin, large boned man, very sociable in character. He was a Methodist and a member of the MT. Zion Church. He had two son's that joined the United States Arny during the terrible Civil War, (Marshall & Westly). While in the service at Mound City, Term., Marshall took pneumonia, his father went to see him while he was there Marshall died. Asa brought him back to Dubois County for service's & burial in MT. Zion Cemetery. His sister in-law Margrett Brown Kemp Cooper took care of the youngest Daus., Jane. She only lived about 8 years after Asa's death. Only Marshall, Westly's & Mary Ellen's graves are marked. it's likely that the rest of the family are buried next to Marshall.
