Funeral services for Matilda Hoskins were held Monday at the Ord Christian Church. Mrs Hoskins died June 14, 1968 at the Valley County Hospital after a long illness. She was 84 years old. Pastor J H Schroeder officiated at the 9:30 a.m. service. Mrs Marlys Schroeder sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages", Mrs Dorothy Wray was the organist, Pallbearers were Robert Racicky, Richard Gibbon, Ben Schamp and Joe Lee Miska. Interment was in Guide Rock. The Hastings-Pearson Mortuary had charge of arrangements. Matilda Amelia Hoskins was born at Burr Oak, Kansas Oct 31, 1883. He parents were John and Hanna (Sund) Weigel. She was first married to George Loper in 1908 and he died in 1912. Her second marriage was to James Hoskins at Guide Rock on Oct 20, 1918. He died in 1941. After living her early life in Guide Rock, Mrs Hoskins lived in the Ericson vicinity until 10 years ago when she moved to Ord. She is survived by two sons Howard Hoskins of Ord and Arthur Loper of Payette, Idaho; two daughters, Mrs Ethel Richschlager of Hazard and Mrs Ethel Schamp of North Loup; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Others preceding her in death were her parents, one brother and three sisters.
