The Lawrence Locomotive (Lawrence, NE), Friday, April 29, 1921; pg. 1 Obituary John Kucera was born in Moravia, Austria, Dec. 27 (sic), 1850. Was married in 1875 to Mary Karmazin, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Karmazin, of Deweese, Neb. He died April 18 (sic), 1821 (sic), age 70 years, 3 mos 21 days. Deceased came to American in 1885, settling on a farm near Deweese, but located in Nuckolls county (sic), where he resided until his death. There survive the deceased: The wife, and the married daughter, Mrs. Francis Dobesh, and seven sons, viz: Joseph, John, Frank, Leonard, Prochop (sic), William, Thomas. One son and one daughter died in infancy. The family all reside here except Frank, whose home is at Mehnomine Minn. Mr. Kucera was a man of high character and standing, a shrewd, sagacious farmer and manager, and at his death each of his seven sons own a farm as a reward for their combined efforts in working togetner (sic) in their younger years. Deceased was buried at Deweese in the Catholic cemetery. He had planned on leaving the farm this spring and with the good wife, move to Deweese to live, but death intervened.
