A sister to John Cleveland Peace! Her children are buried in Forest Park Cemetery, Houston, Texas and Providence Cemetery, Cherokee, Texas.
MARY ANNE PEACE WHEELER Mary Anne Peace was born in Shelby County, Texas to Blackburn Peace and Modenia Wheeler. Around 1851-1852 her family moved to Shelby County, Texas. The Death Certificate # 3944, Shelby County, Texas states that Mary Anne was born in Sabine Parish, Louisiana. It also, shows that she is buried in Mt. Olive Cemetery, Shelby County, Texas. The informant listed on this certificate is her son-in-law, W.G. Bush. I feel since several mistakes appear on her Death Certificate, and the fact that her parents lived in Shelby County, Texas at the time of her birth, she most likely was born in Texas. The 1900 Census of Shelby County, Texas shows that she was one of nine children. Two of the nine children died young. Following is a list of the children I have: Mary Anne, James William, John Cleveland, B.K., William Hiram, Nancy E., Lula A., and Henry Martin Peace. Mary Anne, married Anderson Wheeler Feb. 28, 1874 in Shelby County, Texas. The 1900 Shelby County Census shows that they had been married for 30 years. Also, that they had 12 children and 10 died young. The children living were, Alphie A. b. Aug. 2 1876 m. Wiley G. Bush, Aug. 2, 1907. James Alford b. Apr. 5, 1888. Her husband Anderson Wheeler, enlisted for service in the CSA War. He enlisted at Shelbyville, Texas Jan. 15, 1863 at age 21. He entered the service as a Pvt. Co. C 4th Texas Brigade. They once owned property seven miles west of Center, Texas. This property was near Henry Peace and John Pate. Please feel free to send additional information and corrections to me.
