Bio

Laura B. Doherty, age 82, passed away December 12, 2008 at the IOOF Nursing Home in Ennis. Laura was born April 28, 1926 to O. D. and Ethel (Lewis) Wilhoite in Ennis, Texas. She was raised in Ennis and attended the Ennis Schools. October 26, 1943, she married Homer L. Doherty. They made their home in Ennis. She worked for Adams Hat Factory in Corsicana for ten years and then for the Ennis I. S. D. as a Dietician for twenty years. Laura was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church of Ennis. She is survived by three sons: Homer E. Doherty, and his wife, Joni, Don Doherty, and his wife, Sharon, and Jimmy Doherty, and his wife JoAnn, all of Ennis; one daughter, Ruby, and her husband, Charles Cooper, of Irving, Texas; two brothers: James Wilhoite, and his wife, Barbara, of Ennis and Joe Wilhoite, and his wife, Cheryl, of DeSoto, Texas; two sisters: Iva Dee Collins, of Ennis and Irene, and her husband, Victor Ziegler, of Bristol; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Laura is preceded in death by her husband, Homer L. Doherty (November 12, 2007) and four brothers: Ralph, Raymond, Lloyd and Bobby Wilhoite. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the J. E. Keever Chapel with Rev. Richard T. Moody and Rev. Russell Hathcock officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 14, 2008 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Keever Chapel. Interment will be in Myrtle Cemetery, under the direction of J. E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Source: J. E.
