Obituary JEAN [JANDA] HLAVAC Anna Hlavac, daughter of John and Mary (Blazek) Janda, was born in Plattsmouth April 12, 1889. She died Jan. 31 at the Bethesda care center in Blue Hill at the age of 90. Mrs. Hlavac's parents were charter members of the former Holy Rosary Catholic church in Plattsmouth, and her father was City street commissioner here in the early 1900s. Along with her parents, three brothers and four sisters, she moved to Lawrence in 1908. She was married to Adolph Hlavac April 11, 1910, at the Sacred Heart Catholic church in Lawrence. The couple moved to a farm near Lawrence, where they resided their entire married life. Mr. Hlavac died in 1951. Mrs. Hlavac was a member of the Sacred Heart church Altar society and its Sewing circle and of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lawrence. The funeral mass was offered in the Sacred Heart church, Lawrence, Feb. 4, with the Rev. Fr. Peter Gadient and the Rev. Edwin Stander officiating. Her grandson, Howard Schutte, was soloist, and a granddaughter, Jill Hlavac was accompanist. Accolytes were Jeffrey Hlafac, grandson; Danny Svoboda and Rodney Kitten, great-grandsons; and Doug Buescher. Pallbearers were grandsons Marion and Donald Schutte, Maurice Doerfler, Robert Wonka and Joe and John Hlavac. Burial was in Sacred Heart cemetery, Lawrence. Surviving are her four daughters, Mrs. Alois (Helen) Schutte of Hastings, Mrs. Willard (Lucille) Wonka of Blue Hill, Mrs. Grant (Mary Ann) Muruaga of Junction City, Ore., and Mrs. Harold (Frances) Doerfler of Aumsville, Ore.; two sons, John and Edward Hlavac; 26 grand-children; 58 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; a brother, George Janda of Hastings; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Lillian) Mazour of Westmont, Ill. Mrs. Hlavac was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Albert Janda; and four sisters, Mrs. Joseph (Frances) Hadraba, Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Wooster, Mrs. Henry (Rose) Muzik and Mrs. Frank (Julia) Skalka.
