Bio

Albert Janda Obituary Albert Janda, a prominent and respected citizen of the community, passed away October 11, 1965 at the Mary Lanning Hospital after a long illness. He became seriously ill on August 7, and entered the hospital where he was a patient until his death. Albert Janda, son of John and Mary Janda, was born January 17, 1891 at Plattsmouth. In 1909 he moved with his parents to the Lawrence community. He was engaged in farming with his father. On January 23, 1912 he was united in marriage to Clara Jirousek at the Holy Rosary Church at Plattsmouth, Nebr., after which he brought his bride to this community. To this union were born five children, Theodore, Eleanor, John, Edward and Margaret. He was a kind and loving husband and father. He had a pleasant and happy disposition even through the trying times of drouth and depression. He was an active members of the Sacred Heart Church and was interested in community welfare and progress. He will be missed by both young and old. Mr. and Mrs. Janda retired from the farm and moved to Lawrence in December, 1951. He was an active members of the Catholic Workman Branch 140 for about 50 years, a member of the Knights of Columbus and served on the town board. Mourning his death are his wife Clara, two sons John and Edward of Lawrence; two daughters, Mrs. Henry J. Petr (Elenor) of Wauneta, and Mrs. Henry J. Hubl (Margaret) of Trenton; 15 grandchildren; two brother and five sisters, John Janda and Mrs. Ann Hlavac ov Lawrence, George Janda and Julia Skalka of Hastings, Mary Wooster of Omaha, Rose Muzik of Glenn Ellyn, Ill., and Lillian Mazour of Westmoont, Ill. He was preceeded in death by a son Theodore, his parents and a sister, Mrs. Frances Hadraba of Plattsmouth. Funeral services were held for Mr. Janda Thursday, October 14 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart church, Lawrence, Nebraska. Father John Kelly , nephew of Mrs. Janda, offered the Requiem High Mass. Father Naughton was present in the Sanctuary. Larry Hubl and Ronald Janda, grandsons of the deceased, and Wayne Karmazin, Donnie Hubl and Dale Buescher were Mass servers. Father Kelly and Father Naughton officiated at the burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Pall bearers were Donald Janda, Clement Skalka, Jack Hlavac and Eugene Hula, nephews, and Edward Skalka and Albert Pohlmeier. Among those who attended the services from a distance were from Hastings, Trenton, Wauneta, Madrid, Wellfleet, Plattsmouth, Manley, Elsie, Nelson, Fairfield, Deweese, Blue Hill, Red Cloud, Swanton, and Denver, Colorado.
