Bio

Frank Bezdek was born in Frenstat, Pod Radhostem, Moravia He 1st married Anna Urbanovsky on 12 Nov 1889. She died on 07 Mar 1891, and is buried at St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours, Texas. He next married Theresa Wimmer on 06 Oct 1891, at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Tours, McLennan Co., Texas. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Pioneer Resident Passes Away Here Frank Bezdek, 75, pioneer resident of this community, passed away at his farm home east of this city at 1:15 p.m. Monday. Funeral services were held at the residence at 9:30 and at the Catholic church at 10 a.m. Wednwsday, Rev. E. J. Polcak officiating. Interment was in the Catholic cemetery. Pallbearers were Louis Sykora, Jr., Joe Sulak, Ludvik Bezdek, Vaclav Bezdek, Arnold Kotrla and Wenceslav Bezdek. Mr. Bezdek was born in Czechoslovakia, coming to this country in 1881. At that time he settled in this community and had made his home here since. He was a prominent farmer of this community and was well known throughout the vicinity. He is survived by his widow; a daughter, Mrs. Chas Dvoracek; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Joseph, Charles and John W. Bezdek, all of West; 4 sisters, Mrs. Louis Sykora, Mt. Calm, Mrs. C. Y. Sulak, Mrs. Joseph Kotrla, West; Sister Mary Olivia, San Antonio. Her mother died when she was only two years old. Tracie lived with Frank and Theresa (Wimmer) Bezdek in West before her marriage to Jim Hlavaty. She is referred to as a foster child in Theresa (Wimmer) Bezdek's obituary. Ida Slovak was a foster child of Frank & Theresa (Wimmer) Bezdek. She is mentioned in Theresa (Wimmer) Bezdek's obituary as Miss Ida Slovak of San Antonio. Ida married James Lawrence Cavenaugh on October 12, 1955 in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas.
