Bio

Mrs. Hilda Berger, 89, of Tours died Thursday evening in a Waco hospital. Rosary will be recited 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Martin's Catholic Church, Tours. Mass of Christian Burial 3:15 p.m. Sunday, with the Rev. Isidor Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Martin's Cemetry, Tours. Mrs. Berger was born Oct. 14, 1907, in Rowena, Texas, and had lived in Westphalia for a few years and had spent most of her life in the Tours area. She was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church of Tours and St. Elizabeth Society. She married William Berger Jan. 11, 1927. He preceded her in death July 2, 1964. She was also preceded in death by one son, Bill, who died Aug. 20, 1992. Mrs. Berger was employed at the Village Bakery for a few years and also was a cook for the nuns at the Tours school for a number of years. Survivors include three sons, Ernest Berger of Marion, Ind., James Berger of Killeen and Leander Berger of Tours; three daughters, Sister Jacinta Berger and Mrs. Tarcisia Pavlicek, both of San Antonio, and Shirley Svrcek of West; five sisters, Lena Glatter of West, Elsie Fuchs of Temple, Dora Moeller of Lott, Alma Joe Harris of Waco and Mary Cypert of Bellaire; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
