Bio
West - William (Bill) Berger of West, an auto body technician, died Thursday at a Houston hospital. He was 50. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. today at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, the Rev. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Burial will be at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. The Rev. Rozycki led a rosary Friday night at St. Martin's Catholic Church. Mr. Berger was born April 17, 1942, in Tours and attended school in Tours and West. He married Dorene Thun on Nov. 28, 1964, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. Mr. Berger was an auto body technician for 34 years and an owner of Bill Berger Auto Body Shop the past four years. He previously worked for Scott Chevrolet in West, Bird-Kultgen Ford, Steakley Chrevolet, and Duncan Truck Sales, all in Waco, Mid-Tex Truck Repair in Lorena, and Central Frame and Alignment in Elm Mott. He was a manager for the Straight From the Heart band. Mr. Berger was a member of S.P.J.S.T Lodge 66 in Elm Mott, R.V.O.S. Lodge in Tours, St. Martin's Cemetery Association and St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, where he was on the Parish Council. He also was a former Boy Scout leader. Survivors include his wife, his mother, Hilda C. Berger of West; three sons, Donnie William Berger, Jason Wayne Berger and Kevin John Berger, all of West; three brothers, Ernest (Sonny) Berger of Marion, Ind., James Berger of Killeen and Leander Berger of Tours; and three sisters, Sister Jacinta Berger of the Sisters of Divine Providence in San Antonio, Tarcisia (Sissy) Pavlicek of San Antonio and Shirley Svrcek of West.
