Bio

John A. Vrba, 86, of Mt. Calm died Thursday night in a Hillsboro hospital. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Firday at Kotch Funeral Chapel in West. Requiem mass was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Martin's Catholic Church at Tours with Rev. Frank Miller as celebrant. Burial was in St. Martin's Cemetery at Tours. Mr. Vrba was born at Frelsburg and had lived in the Tours area most of his life. He was a retired farmer and a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church at Tours and the St. Martin's Society. He was a member of the KJT Lodge No. 60 of Tours, which he served as secretary for a number of years, and the Catholic Workmen K.D. He is survived by six sons, Jerry Vrba of Corpus Christi, John L. Vrba of Abbott, Joe R. Vrba of Waco, Bernard Vrba of Mr. Calm, Erwin Vrba of Sherman, Stanley Vrba of West; three daughters, Mrs. Angeline Uptmore of Lacy-Lakeview, Mr. I. J. Sykora of Galveston, and Mrs. Jack D. Howell of Garland; two brothers, Bill Vrba of Elm Mott, Albin Vrba of Bellmead; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Podsednik of Tours, Mrs. Matilda Podsednik of Fort Worth and Mrs. Mary Hlavenka of Irving; 18 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
