The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, September 20, 1923; pg. 6 LAWRENCE From The Lawrence Locomotive Last Monday afternoon about three o'clock, Mrs. Henry Steffens quietly passed away at her home, one mile west of Lawrence. She had been ailing for the past two months but nothing critical was observed in illness. About one week ago her condition became such that she was compelled to stay in bed, and the resultant weakness from a complication of a weak heart and artery troubles and other sickness hastened the end much faster than was suspected by the family. Her age was 62. There survive one son, Herman, and three daughters, Mrs. eDrra (sic) and Mrs. Joe Weingardt of Lawrence; and another daughter, whose home is in Kansas. The husband of deceased died last November. Mrs. Steffens maiden name was Kiminau (sic), an old family of St. Stephens neighborhood.
