COOPER Published December 8, 2004, The Onlooker, Foley, Alabama George Thomas (Tony) Cooper, 70, died on Nov. 29, 2004 at the Mary Starke Harper Center in Tuscaloosa. A native of Baldwin County, he was born on Aug. 18, 1934 in Rosinton to Mr. and Mrs. William B. Cooper; he lived in Robertsdale for the past 47 years. He was a member of the Robertsdale United Methodist Church. He graduated from the University of West Alabama with a BS Degree in Education. He retired in 1999 from the Pioneer Hi-Bred Int., Inc. after 34 years as a District Sales Manager in the Southern Division. He was a past president of the Alabama Seedsmen's Association and selected as Seedsman of the Year for 2000, in recognition of his service to Alabama Agriculture through significant contributions to the seed industry. In the year 2000 he was selected a member of the Robertsdale High School Athletic Hall of Fame. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Kay Boyd Cooper; two sons, Charles A. Cooper and William C. Cooper; one daughter, Cara Kay (Steve) Childress; three brothers, Charles W. (Carolyn) Cooper, Gail (Charlotte Cooper and Robert L. (Sherry) Cooper; two grandchildren; four sisters, Juanita C. Freeman, Joyce C. (Teddy) Ludke, Carolyn C. (David) Childress, Martha C. Loper, all of Robertsdale and Carolyn C. (David) Childress, Theodore; a brother-in-law, Lanny (Nancy) Boyd, Tuscaloosa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at 3 p.m. at the Robertsdale United Methodist church. Interment followed in the Old Cooper Cemetery in Rosinton. In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions to the Robertsdale United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. box 866, Robertsdale, AL. Arrangements were by Mack Funeral Home and Crematory, Robertsdale.
