Mary Kay Cooper, a beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, February 12, 2021. A Sumter County native, Mary Kay was born July 19, 1936 in Livingston, AL to Ernest Moore Boyd and Telitha Land Boyd. S he graduated from Livingston State Teacher’s College, where she was a cheerleader and also crowned Miss LSTC. While attending Livingston State Teacher’s College, she met the love of her life, George Thomas Cooper, who was captain of the football team. Mary Kay and “Tony” went on to wed and welcome their first-born child. Shortly after the arrival of their son, they moved to Baldwin County, Alabama, where they set down roots and continued to grow their family and welcome their loving son and daughter. For 63 years Mary Kay went on to raise and cherish her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; George Thomas Cooper, her parents; Ernest Moore Boyd and Telitha Land Boyd Mary Kay was a teacher, artist, homemaker and above all a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was devoted to her family, loved them deeply, and cherished her time with them. She was known for her elegance, beauty and kindness, and it was our greatest blessing to know and love her. Graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, February 20, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at the Old Cooper Cemetery, Robertsdale, Alabama.
