Clark was the son of Samuel Duncan Wells and Matilda Brunk Wells. He married Catherine E. Finke on 4-3-1859 in Davis Co, IA. Note: If somebody has a picture of Clark, could you post. Thank you, PRESS DEMOCRAT, SANTA ROSA, CA, Dec 8 1912, Page 4 Clark Wells, one of the pioneer residents of Rincon Valley, passed away Saturday morning very suddenly from heart trouble. Mr. Wells was a brother of the late Pleasant Wells, and a native of Kentucky. Had he lived until Dec 23, he would have been 76 years of age. The deceased came to California across the plains 51 years ago, settling first in Sutter county. He came to Sonoma county 23 years ago and lived on the ranch where he passed away. He is survived by a wife, Mrs. Catherine E. Wells, and a son, Geo Wells of Sebastopol. Mr. Wells had been in the best of health and got up yesterday morning feeling as well as usual. He ate his breakfast and started out to his work when he was stricken. A physician was hurriedly summoned, but he passed away a short time after the latter arrived at the Wells home. The death comes as a great shock to the large family connection. The funeral will take place from the Odd Fellow' Hall on Mendocino Avenue Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Peter Colvin of the Christian Church officiating.
