Sarah Ellis Palmer Rollings, daughter of Washington Isaac & Hannah (Myers) Palmer, married John William Rollings September 29, 1901 at the bride's home in St. James County, Missouri. Missouri death certificate for Sarah x's out middle name Elizabeth and inserts name Ellis. (Ellis is listed in the family Bible). Newspaper Obituary: Funeral services for Sarah Ellis Rollings, 75, widow of John W. Rollings of Spokane, who died Sunday, July 21, in a St. Louis hospital, were held Thursday, July 25 at 2:00 p.m. in the Spokane Baptist Church with the Rev. Reg Mapes officiating. Burial was in the Spokane Cemetery under direction of the Harris Funeral Home of Nixa. Mrs. Rollings had been a resident of the Spokane community most of her life and was a member of the Spokane Baptist Church. Survivors include nine sons, John, Jake. Robert and Burl, all of St. Louis; William of Reedly, Calif; Edward of San Antonio, Tex, CQM Neil of Shreveport, La., Leamond of Spokane and CMM Lewis of Middletown, R. I.; three daughters, Mrs. Cora Saltsman of Little Rock, Ark, Mrs. Rose Botolfson of Detroit, Mich., and Lt. Bertha "Betty" Rollings of Taipei, Taiwan and 18 grandchildren. Globe Newspaper, St. Louis, Missouri (edited to correct errors): Mrs. Sarah Palmer Rollings, mother of two St. Louis labor officials, died yesterday of heart disease at a hospital in St. Louis. She was 75. Her husband, John W. Rollings, died about two months ago. Two of her sons are John I. Rollings, president of the Missouri State Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and Robert A. (Al) Rollings, president of the St. Louis Barbers Union. Besides raising twelve children, Mrs. Rollings had been active for a time as Democratic precinct committeewoman in south Galloway Township, Christian County. Also surviving are seven other sons, Jake F., Burl D., William P., Edward C., Neil N., Leamond, and Lewis Rollings; and three daughters, Mrs. Cora Saltsman, Mrs. Rose Botalfson, and Miss Bertha E. Rollings. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Thursday at the First Baptist Church at Spokane. Burial will be in the Spokane Cemetery.
