Sioux Valley News 15 April 1886 page 1 Mrs. P. Varner who has been sick since January, died last Friday night. The funeral occurred on Sunday from the M.E. Church with Rev. B. Mitchell preaching the funeral sermon. It was thought at one time that the worst was over and that she was on the way to a speedy recovery, but it was not so to be. Mr. and Mrs. Varner came here ten years ago and have lived upon their farm, half a mile south of town, ever since. Mrs. Varner was 49 years of age. She will be sadly missed in church and Sunday school affairs in which she took a deep interest until her last sickness. She was entirely conscious until the last moment of life, and died peacefully.
