'''''''''''''''' The Columbus Daily Telegram , November 29, 1927, p. 1, col. 4 & 5 Death of Mrs. Anna Janicek – Mrs. Anna Janicek, member of a pioneer family of Iowa and Nebraska, passed away at St. Mary's hospital at 1:20 this morning after a lingering illness. She had been a patient at the hospital since March and bedfast for the last six weeks. Death was caused by dropsy and complications. The body was taken today to Mrs. Janicek's former home, 14 miles southwest of the city, where her son, John Janicek now resides. The funeral will be held Thursday, the cortege leaving the home at 8:45 a.m. with services at St. Bonaventure's church at 10 o'clock. Rev. Fr. Isidore, pastor of the church, will officiate, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery. As Anna Jaax, she was born in Germany in 1862 and when but a few years of age, she came to America with her parents. The family located in Iowa but moved to Nebraska a few years later. After her marriage to Frank Janicek at Shelby, 43 years ago, they established their home on the farm southwest of the city, where they lived until seven years ago, when they retired from active farm life, moved into Columbus and bought a home at 1058 Twenty-fourth avenue. Mr. Janicek passed away four and a half years ago. She is survived by two sons, Frank and John, of Shelby; Mrs. G. H. Zipper, of Silver Creek, and Mrs. W. W. Bruckner, of Shelby. She had nine grandchildren. John Jaax, of Shelby, and Mrs. Jake Ripp, of Cedar Rapids, a brother and sister, also survive. ''''''''''''''' The Columbus Daily Telegram , December 1, 1927, p. 8, col. 4 Funeral Today – The funeral of Mrs. Anna Janicek, 65, who died at St. Mary's hospital Tuesday morning after an extended illness, was held today. The funeral cortege left the home of her son, John Janicek, 14 miles southwest of Columbus, at 8:45 a.m. and requiem mass was read at St. Bonaventure's church at 10 o'clock, Rev. Fr. Isidore officiating. Burial was made in the parish cemetery, beside the body of her husband, the late Frank Janicek, who died four and a half years ago. The bearers were Peter Seberger, Hubert Seberger, Joseph Alt, John Alt, Oswald Kropatch and William Glatter.
