Lawrence Clarence Pavlu, Sr 86, of Garwood went home to be with Our Lord on February 3, 2025. He was born on February 15, 1938 in Garwood, Texas to Charles and Adena Beal Pavlu. Lawrence joined the Army in 1956 and when he returned home he met Lillian Wendel and they were married on September 20, 1960 and were the first couple to be married in the present St. Andrews Catholic Church in Hillje. They were married 64 years and had four children together. Lawrence was a jack of all trades. Early on he worked with farmers and helped construct grain bins. After this, he managed Natex Supply, a lumber yard in Nada and on the side farmed rice. He then moved on to construction and Pavlu Builder with his sons where he built new homes, remodeled homes and built cattle feeders and many other items. In 1986, Lawrence and Lillian purchased Garwood Lumber company which they still own and run. Lawrence continued farming throughout all his careers and stared his sons in this profession. In his spare time, he loved to fish and hunt and spend time with his family. Lawrence is survived by his wife, daughter Carolyn Weishuhn (James) of La Grange, sons Patrick Pavlu of Alleyton, Lawrence 'Larry' Pavlu, Jr (Vicky) and Robert 'Rob' Pavlu of Garwood, Grandchildren Nicole Sanford (Brandon), Jaye Weishuhn (Katie), Jonathan Weishuhn (Emily), Paige Pavlu, Taylor Kapel (Dalton), Aubrey Pavlu, Ashton Pavlu (Randi), Great Grandchildren Beckett & Parker Sanford, Ava, Jaxton & Charlotte Weishuhn & Ashtyn Pavlu. Sister-in-Law Lucille Michna & Katie Wendel, Brother-in-law Deacon Edward Wendel (Agnes). He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Lillian Padgett (Pat), brothers Jody Pavlu, John Pavlu (Irene), Charles Pavlu (Hattie), Leo Pavlu, Clem Pavlu (Lillian), Norbert Pavlu (Mildred), and Brother-in-law Alfred Wendel. Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nada with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass begins at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 6 at the church. Burial under the auspices of the American Legion Post 251 will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jaye Weishuhn, Jonathan Weishuhn, Ashton Pavlu, Mark Eggemeyer, Pat Padgett, & Victor Shimek. Memorial donations in memory of Lawrence can be made to Garwood Volunteer Fire Department or St. Mary's Church.
