Bio

Catherine D. Saddoris, daughter of Henry Clay and Margaret Kirby Saddoris, was born February 5, 1849, in Champaign county, Illinois, died March 27, 1895. She was united in marriage to Mr. Mark Williams February 3, 1877. At the age of seventeen she joined the United Brethren church. About two years ago she united with the M. P. church at Oak Grove (Fremont township), lived a constant Christian and left a bright testimony of her faith and hope of a home in heaven. She leaves a kind and affectionate husband, father, mother, brothers, six sisters and a host of friends to mourn her loss. Funeral services held at the Fremont church by Rev. Robinson assisted by Rev. Mullen. Osceola Weekly Sentinel, Osceola, IA April 04, 1895, Page 8 ------- April 4, 1895 Osceola Weekly Sentinel, page 5 Mrs Mark Williams , whose home was eight miles north of Osceola, died Wednesday, March 27th. She was forty-seven years of age and died from the effects of fatty generation about the heart. Mrs Williams was of prodigious size and weighed about five hundred pounds when she died She was five feet, eight inches In helght, but had grown In corpulence steadily for a number of years until It ended in her death. The coffin was made by a carpenter and it required the strength of nine men to handle the corpse. Mrs Williams had a pleasant, jolly disposition and bore her affliction with a brave spirit. She leaves a husband and relative to mourn her loss. Her remains are buried in the Fremont cemetery Thursday. No stone. Her parents have a large plot where one young granddaughter also has a headstone.
