William Franklin "Bill" Shirley was the son of Lewis Benjamin Franklin Shirley (1861-1942) and Louisa Clements Shirley (1862-1929). He married Lela Eveline Harvey on 11 Oct 1906 in Blount County, Alabama. "Uncle Bill" and Lela Shirley had 11 children: Flora Luvinia, Vada, Huston Edward, Odis John, Milton Lewis, Eva Mae, Edith Effie, Beulah Onzell, Calvin C., Billy Joe, and Bobby Winfield Shirley.
