Bio

Sad Death of James Shirley The death angel has again visited the town of Oneonta, this time claiming James Shirley, one of our best young men. He died early Friday morning August 4th after an illness of about 30 days. Mr Shirley was nearly 23 years of age and was an exemplary young man always found at his post of duty. He was quiet and pleasing in his disposition and had many friends. The funeral services were held at Antioch Church and were conducted by Rev A.J. Brand and J.C. Buckner. The interment taking place in the Glover Grave Yard. [Southern Democrat, August 10, 1911]
