Mrs. Louisa Shirley, wife of L.B. Shirley, died very suddenly at their home in Oneonta early Sunday morning. Her death was due to heart failure. Mrs. Shirley was 67 years of age and for 27 years had been a member of the Baptist church. She is survived by her husband, L.B. Shirley, four sons, T.G. Shirley, of Tait's Gap; W.F. Shirley, of Route 2, Oneonta; Pline Shirley, of Acmar and John Shirley of Wylam; three daughters, Misses Fannie and Rosa Shirley, of Oneonta, and Mrs. Minnie Wells, of Birmingham; five brothers, George Clements, of Route 2, Oneonta; John Clements, of Argo; S.G. Clements, of Birmingham; two sisters, Mrs. Jeff Lowe, of St. Clair County; Mrs. George Patman, of Waxahatchie, Texas; three half-sisters, Mrs. Amanda Beasley, of Champion; Mrs. Julia Ann Hatley, of Route 2, Oneonta; and Mrs. Bertha Elizabeth Lowe, of Tait's Gap; two half-brothers, Eli Clements, of Oleander; and Jack Clements, of Champion. The funeral services were held at Antioch Monday and were conducted by Rev. L.T. Fendley, Rev. A.H. Walden and Rev. E. Hatley. Published by The Southern Democrat, March 1929.
