Rita Katherine Becht April 17, 1934 ~ August 11, 2023 RAPID CITY - Rita Katherine Becht, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 11, 2023. Rita K Becht, 89, Rapid City, SD passed away Friday August 11th, 2023, in her home surrounded by her children. Rita was born on April 17, 1934, in Osceola Nebraska. Rita was the oldest of 13 children of Anton and Frances (Patocka) Jindra. Rita worked in an ammunition plant in Fremont, NE where she met the love of her life, David Charles Becht. Rita married David on November 10,1954, in David City, NE. Rita and David were married for 54 years before David passed away in 2010. In that union ten children were born. Rita was a homemaker but also babysat other children in the neighborhood and washed and ironed other people's clothing. Rita enjoyed crocheting, quilting, baking, and bowling but most of all family time. Rita always enjoyed it when families came to visit and always enjoyed cuddle time with all her grandchildren. She was a member of the Cathedral Parish and The Catholic Daughters. Survivors include her 8 children; 25 Grandchildren, 31 Great-Grandchildren and 4 Great, Great Grandchildren; her 7 siblings as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband David, sons, David Joseph and James Allen, her parents Anton and Frances Jindra and her sisters Marcella, Martha, Rose Marie, Celeste, and Adeline. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 6:00 PM on Thursday August 17, 2023, with a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 PM at Osheim & Schmidt Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated on Friday August 18 at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help with Rev. Mathew Fallgren officiating. The burial service will be at 2:30 PM at Black Hills National Cemetary. Memorials may be made to the Cathedral of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.
