SP4 US ARMY Dan Charles Johnson, 84, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at his home and surrounded by his family. Mr. Johnson was born in Starks, Louisiana on January 2, 1939 and was son to the late Charles and Ozella Johnson and has lived in the Jacksonville area for over 61 years. He retired from the City of Jacksonville after many years of service as the Operations Supervisor for the Gator Bowl, Wolfson Park and The Greater Agricultural Fairgrounds. Mr. Johnson was a Veteran of the US Army and a member of Dunns Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Helena "Dot" Johnson; brother: CJ Johnson Starks LA, Sister: Clydene Adams Orange Park Fl, his son: Danny Wayne Johnson (Karen) his daughter: Dawn Sissy Wishart (Jim) grandchildren: Danielle Littlepage (Tucker) Zachary Johnson, Andrew Walston. Greatgrandchildren: Sadie Kay and Ellie Mae and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He was a jack of all trades and master of half of them. Woodworker, artist, photographer, jewelry maker, quilter, tailor, horticulturist, distiller, inventor and self-taught bible scholar. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Dunn Creek Baptist Church, 1425 Starratt Road, with Pastor Dave Malmberg officiating. Burial will follow at 12:30 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery with Military Honors. His family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church prior to the service. Peeples Family Funeral Home is serving the Johnson Family.
