Bio
Services for Alma Shelton Harris, 83, Athens, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday at Foster & Brown Funeral Home chapel in Athens with the Rev. Paul McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Payne Cemetery. Mrs. Harris died Aug. 17 in an Athens nursing home. She was born Oct. 22, 1912, in Tyler to the late George Isaac and Nora Pearl Ginn Shelton. She retired as assistant county superintendent of Athens Independent School District and was a member of First Baptist Church of Eustace. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Fermin Harris Sr. in 1976. Survivors include stepson, Carl Fermin Jr., Athens, sister, Ora Shelton, Fort Worth, brother G. Ernest Shelton, Dallas one grandson, seven great-grandchildren and numerous aunts and cousins. Family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. If desired, memorials may be made to charity of choice.
