Eugene Marek was a loving husband, father, poppy, brother and friend. He left this world on May 24th, 2022. Eugene was born in Penelope, TX, on October 3rd, 1933, to Frank and Mary Marek. He had 6 sisters and 4 brothers and grew up farming cotton. Eugene graduated from the University of North Texas with a degree in business. Prior to graduating, he served in the United States Army for 4 years. Eugene worked with Hartford Insurance for 38 years, receiving many accolades along the way. He retired in 1996 as the national leader in his practice. Eugene enjoyed his time as a Eucharistic Minister and Lectern while attending St. Phillips Catholic Church in the late 70's to early 90's. He loved to fish and watch the Cowboys and Texas Rangers. He never missed an event ,whether it was his 3 children or his 5 grandchildren participating. That included school events, sports events, recitals and other milestones that were reached along the way. He married Betty, the love of his life, on January 21st, 1961, who survives him. Eugene is also survived by his daughter, Becky Haddock and husband Jeff; his son, John Marek and wife Gina; along with his grandchildren, Tyler Haddock and wife Lauren, Chase Haddock and wife Justina, Zaccary Marek, Luke Marek and Jackson Marek; great-grandchildren Sawyer, Coraline, Aspen, Mason, Beau and Knox Haddock. Eugene is preceded in death by his son, Michael, 6 sisters and 4 brothers. The Visitation/Vigil will be held on Wednesday, June 8th, at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX, 75225 – Visitation at 5-6 PM and Vigil at 6-7 PM.
