Bio

Mary G. Marek, age 89 of West, passed away Tuesday evening, August 28, 2001 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Friday with Mass of Christian Burial following at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Father Vincent Chacko IMS as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Miss Marek was born November 4, 1911 in Abbott. She was the daughter of Frank and Emilie Marek of Penelope. She attended a Practical Nursing School in 1958 and worked in Dallas for 25 years. Upon her retirement, she moved to West in 1983. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She is preceded in death by a brother, Frank W. Marek and a sister, Leona Kolar. Miss Marek is survived by four sisters, Lillie Marek of West, Albina Howard of Penelope, Willie Mae Skerik and Josephine Kallus, both of Abbott; three brothers, Joe Marek of Penelope, Eugene Marek of Dallas and Leon Marek of Bellmead. Active pallbearers were John David Marek, Ronnie Skerik, Kenneth Kolar, Thomas Nors, Thomas Kolar and Michael Marek. Altar boy was Joseph Nors.
