Beloit Daily News, Tuesday 22 January 1985 ROSCOE - Louis D. Hinkle, 81, of 10112 Atwood Road, died late Sunday evening at his home following a long illness. He was born on Aug. 15, 1903, in Fremont, Neb., the son of Christopher E. and Luella Chapman Hinkle. He married Nanna P. Nelson on Jan. 23, 1924, in Minneapolis. She died on March 1, 1964. Mr. Hinkle owned and operated the Hinkle Grain Company in Beloit at the corner of St. Paul Avenue and Pleasant Street. He farmed and also was a land developer at Hinkle Wooded Acres, and other areas surrounding the Beloit in Illnois and Wisconsin. He was a member of the Roscoe Community Congregational Church and the Old Stone Church in Rockton. He was a member of the Winnebago County Zoning Board for 18 years, the Roscoe Lions Club, the Odd Fellows Lodge in Beloit, and the Stephen Mack School Board. He also was a trustee of the Old Stone Church. Survivors include three daughters, Lillian Hinkle and Ardis Cody, both of Roscoe, and Blanche (Mrs. Eugene) Michaelson of Rockford; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by a son, a daughter, a grandson, one brother and one sister. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer Blackhawk Chapel, with the Rev. George Hartz and the Rev. Dr. James Westpfahl officiating. Burial will be in the Rockton Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the African Famine Relief Fund in care of the American Red Cross in Beloit.
