Tim Martinka, 92, formerly of Granger, died Monday, June 4, 2007 in Flatonia, Texas. Visitation will be 6-8 PM with Rosary recited at 6 PM, Wednesday, June 6, 2007 at Providence Funeral Home Chapel. Celebration of Life Mass will be 10 AM, Thursday, June 7, 2007 at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Granger. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Mausoleum in Granger. Tim Martinka was born on November 25, 1914 to Frank J. and Mary (Nejtek) Martinka. He was a member of SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Tim spent his life farming. He loved being on the farm, gardening, growing pecans, and his catfish. He was a "jack of all trades." There were not to many things Tim could not do if he wanted. He could invent almost any tool or device to make the job easier. He was a wonderful cook and a master storyteller, especially of ghost stories. Tim was a great carpenter and could build almost anything. He was known to many as "Sunshine" since he was always smiling. He was also known to some as "Rattlesnake Daddy" as he could catch a rattlesnake and did so many times, and never was bitten. Tim loved his family above all. He was generous with his family and would do anything for them. Tim lovingly cared for his mother after her stroke. He saw to her every need until she passed away. He lived his life to the fullest. Even though his last years were tough on him and his family, he is now doing all of the things he has always loved...smiling, fishing, playing dominoes telling all those stories to the family members that have passed on and have been waiting patiently for him to come home. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank, John and Peter Martinka and sisters, Hattie Stuchly and Helen Oryschak. Tim is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mary Kuba of Altair; Paul Martinka of Georgetown; Tracy Gilliam of Granger; Agnes Polasek of Shiner; Ann Klepac of Georgetown; Cyril Martinka of Cranston, Rhode Island,; Bill Martinka of Chicago, IL; George Martinka of Alice; Henry Martinka of Bartlett; Martha Kaderka of Granger; Joe Martinka of Marble Falls; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers will be Gene Martinka, Edward Martinka, Larry Martinka, Eugene Stuchly, Ted Kuba, Jimmie Martinka, Jodie Kaderka, Patrick Martinka, and Pete Edward Martinka. Friends are invited to share their words of comfort in an online tribute at www.Providencefuneralhome.com in Tim Martinka s memory.
