Bio

JENNIE C PENN (Granny Penn) was a tiny, hard-working woman who stood at five feet two with pretty blue eyes and black hair. She always wore her hair long even after it turned gray and piled in a bun on top of her head. JENNIE married C.W.(Charles Wesley)Penn and the union produced six children: Jasper Henderson Penn - Liked to go by his middle name of Henderson and was a veteran of the Army in WWI and even though a very handsome man, he never married. Died while working for the Dallas Fire Department. Henderson Penn fell off the water truck on Main Street in Dallas and was kicked in the head by the horse. He died from the horse kick causing brain injury. It was classified as Death in the Line of Duty. He also owned a restaurant in Kaufman, Texas but name of restaurant is unknown. Henderson died in 1921 and is buried in Crandall, Texas. Lena Penn - Married Deck Griffey. Had a sunny personality. Jim Penn - Worked for North American and retired from the company. First one in the family to get a divorce. Was a tall, dark and brooding man. Cecil DeWitt Penn - Tall and very good-looking with blue eyes. He was a quiet man but very loving and kind. Cecil Penn married a woman who had a wonderful flair for making cakes as seen in Jennies birthday picture shown. Her name was Jewel. Cecil was a sargeant on the Universtiy Park Police Department. Tressie Bee Penn - Had red hair and gorgeous green eyes and loved her family very much. She married John Henry "Dick" Osborne and the union produced four children, but sadly none survived at birth. Sydney Penn - Had red hair and sky blue eyes and was a very tall man with a wonderful sense of humor. Was a rancher along with J.H. Osborne in Kaufman, Texas for many years. He married Dixie Mae Bagley and the union produced four children. JENNIE PENN'S last days were spent living with her daughter, Tressie Bee, in Kaufman, Texas.
