Bio
J.H. Johnson married first to Harriet "Hattie" Williams. Children of this marriage were daughters Henry Lee Johnson Rodgers and Virginia Clanton Johnson Penn. Following Hattie's death, he married her younger sister, Nancy "Nanie" Lavanna Williams Johnson. In addition to Willie, Charlie, Ollie, Jessie and Roy listed below, the couple also had son Jimmie, who died before 1900. The year of death on headstone is incorrect. Family correspondence states he died a few months after the death of his son-in-law, George Washington Rodgers (February 1917). In addition, J.H. Johnson applied to the state of Texas for a Confederate Indigent Soldier Pension in February 1915, nine months after the date of death on the stone.
