SYDNEY PENN was a tall man with red hair and sky blue eyes and a wonderful sense of humor. Sydney raised cotton for awhile in his younger years, then along with his sister Tressie Bee Penn Osborne's husband, became a rancher and worked under J.H. "Dick" Osborne for many years. Sid especially loved his cows, and knew exactly what to feed them to yield the most wonderful, tasting beef. Sydney loved country and western music, especially Ernest Tubb and Jimmy Rodgers. He was also a skillful dice and domino player and loved banana pudding and sweet potato pie. Sydney Penn married Dixie Mae Bagley on February 28, 1936 in Crandall, Texas. They began married life in Warsaw, Texas where their two oldest children were born. Sid and Dixie eventually moved to Kaufman, Texas where they had two more children born to them. Sid and Dixie were married for 56 years and their love for each other never wavered. Their favorite song was "I'll leave this world loving you" by Ricky Van Shelton. Sydney's many grandchildren lovingly referred to him as "Pappy". Sydney Penn is remembered by his family for the love he showed them in his actions, and his humor and wit in situations that seemed impossible. He is deeply missed for his strong, healthy laugh and the caring ways he had towards others. Sydney Penn went to be with his Savior on 2-11-1998 in Terrell, Texas.
