Calvin Blackburn "Bud" Curlee was born on April 12, 1852 to Calvin "Dave" and Emily Curlee in Rutherford County, Tennessee. Bud had two sisters, Mary Matilda Curlee Cawthorn and Elizabeth "Betty" Curlee Burnett. On December 7, 1870, Bud married Margaret Isabel Arnold. They had 4 children, Nathan Blackburn "Jake" Curlee, Mary Matilda Curlee Good, Julie Welker Curlee Pickard and Annie Barbra Curlee Reed. Around 1890, the family moved to Texas and settled near the town of Crandall located in Kaufman County, Texas. Bud, as many back then, mainly farmed for a living. In 1917, Bud & Margaret followed their son Nathan and his family to Edna, Texas located in Jackson County, where they continued to farm the land. Margaret Isabel passed away in 1921 and was buried in the Crandall Cemetery. When Bud passed away in 1930, he was buried beside her.
