GIVENS Mary C. "Tootsie" Ard Givens, 72, a native and life long resident of Robertsdale, died Aug. 30, 2002 in her home. She was an active member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Givens; one sister, Elsie Kuck; two brothers, Bernie Ard and Duane Ard; and a half-sister, Chloe Steadham. Survivors include a daughter and son-law Patricia Givens and A. A. "Buddy" Rienheau of Robertsdale; a son and daughter-in-law, Samuel and Dorothy Givens of Fairhope; one sister, Susie Richardson of Robertsdale; four brothers, Merriel Ard and Alonzo Ard, both of Robertsdale, W. D. Ard of Silverhill and Gloyice Ard of Orange Beach; four grand children, Susan Ryder of Lyons, Colorado, Marcy Rienheau of Robertsdale, Kenny Merriwether and Connie M. Thompson, both of Fairhope; and four great-grandchildren. Services were held Sept. 2 at the Bethel Baptist Church with burial in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Robertsdale, AL. The family prefers that memorial donations be made to the Bethel Baptist Church.
