2016Roy D. Hutyra, age 79, of West, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2016 in Waco. A Rosary will be recited 6 p.m., Thursday, at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Friday, November 25, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard.Roy was born January 25, 1937 in West, the son of Emil C. and Frances (Pavlica) Hutyra. He was a 1955 graduate of West High School and attended T.S.T.I. and Radio and television school in Houston. Roy served his country with the United States Air Force. On September 2, 1961 he was united in marriage to Doris Pokluda in West. Roy worked for Waco Apparel for 20 years and Fleetwood Mobile Homes for 10 years, before retiring in 2002. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Roy was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #4819, American Legion Post #478, Knights of Columbus Council #2305 and the West Bass Club. He enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, gambling, watching sports and was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys.Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Henry Hutyra, Raymond Hutyra and Emil J. Hutyra; and sisters, Ida Drozd, Evelyn Whitener and Mary Wachel.Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Doris Hutyra of West; children, Roy James Hutyra and wife, Angie of Granbury, Michael Hutyra and wife, Wanda of West, Dolores Scott and husband, Jim of Hillsboro, Cindy Luce and husband, Scott of Whitney, Bill Hutyra and wife, Melissa of West, Ann Zahirniak and husband, Kenneth of West and Jan Dudik and husband, Eddie of West; a sister, Dorothy Podsednik; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
