Cherokee Daily Times: Jan. 10, 1983: pg 2 Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for Gordon E. Messerole, 72, of 723 N. Roosevelt Ave. The Rev. Dale George and the Rev. A.E. McCoy will officiate. Burial will be in the Mary hill Visitation Catholic Church Cemetery under the direction of the Greenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Messerole died Friday at his home. He was born Dec. 25, 1910, in Pierson to Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Messerole. He married Gertrude Pitts on June 15, 1936, at Maryhill. Mr. Messerole farmed for many years and worked as a machinist at Schissel Manufacturing. He later worked as a custodian at the Cherokee Community Center before retiring in 1976. Survivors include his wife; sons, Bob Messerole, Jesse Messerole and Ron (Tiny) Messerole, all of Cherokee, and Roy (Red) Messerole, Conrad, Iowa; daughters, Mrs. Tom (Gertrude) Selk and Mrs. Michael (Joyce) Bechtel, both of Cherokee; 20 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and sisters, Mrs. Guy (Lola) Mann, Clark, S.D., and Mrs. Ora (Elizabeth) Stevens, Henry, S.D. He was preceded in death by bis parents and a brother.
