Andrew J. Kifer enlisted in the Civil War on September 7, 1862, as a Private. Served in Company K of the 148th Volunteer Regiment. Wounded at Chancellorsville, May 2, 1863 in the left hand and arm. Transfered to Veteran Reserve Corps February 15, 1864. On March 1, 1887, oil was found on his farm, which was a mile south of Reidsburg, Monroe Township, Clarion County, PA.
